The Project

The idea behind this packaging is pretty simple: paint chips/swatches are synonymous with paint buckets.

Our marketing team developed a crew that paid homage to a prolific color palette company. Initially the product was sold as a standard crew — no bells, no whistles. After noticing a sales slump and collecting some customer input, I came up with the paint bucket idea. I went through a few design iterations, produced all of the elements in-house, and ran a market test. It was such a success that we ran out of cans; but sales of the crew increased by 63%.

For the final flourish we used acrylic paint to mark the size on the lid.
